Interesting little piece at Sociological Images that endeavors to provide a social explanation for the rise in Autism cases. The article makes the argument that Autism cases aren’t actually increasing, but we as a society is simply getting better -and more aware- of noticing and diagnosing it. In particular, higher class families may be even more *aware* and likely to spot the signs and have it diagnosed, as well as spread that information through their networks. It’s a theory, but an interesting one.
